Racumin® Rat and Mouse Rodenticide is based on coumatetralyl, a highly effective, first generation anticoagulant with low risk of secondary poisoning of pets or wildlife. Racumin® is highly palatable and rodents do not become bait shy, they die after a number of feeds. However, because it is metabolised quickly, residues in dead rodents are low so pets or wildlife that might consume rodent carcasses are less at risk of secondary poisoning. A bittering agent is also included to reduce attractiveness to children and non-target animals.
Racumin® is available as a highly palatable paste in sachets, weather resistant blocks and a concentrated tracking powder. Sachets and blocks are recommended for use in bait stations. These should be monitored regularly for consumption and replaced accordingly. Baiting for about 2 weeks is needed to reduce rodent populations. Racumin® can be used in the domestic setting as well as in industrial and farm buildings and in certain field crops such as sugar cane, macadamias and pineapples.
